Death Design (The Daughter's of Darkness, #3) by N.L. Hoffman

Death Design (The Daughters of Darkness, #3)

Death Design (The Daughters of Darkness, #3)

Sin Noble is the President’s personal assassin, due to her unique ability to kill. What most don’t know is, he’s also her brother, and not at all the cuddly or loving kind, either. After surviving a difficult childhood and life on the streets, she adapted to her murder-for-hire lifestyle by going against nature and using her reaping powers to take enemies of the President before their time. As Death incarnate, Sin has the unique ability to alter the Death Design—the pattern that decides who should die, and when.

But tempting fate doesn’t come without a price. Or a questionable relationship with alcohol.

When she is sent by her brother to assassinate a suspected blackmailer, Sin soon realizes that the situation is more complicated than he let on. She is partnered with another employee of the President, Liam Sanders, whom she hates with a passion. When push comes to shove, that passion soon turns into something her hormones can’t refuse, and Sin can’t live without.

Constantly running up against her Supernatural fathers and sarcastic sisters, Sin’s tangled web of a mission reveals that The Covert is once again preying on all of the world’s inhabitants. Sin is desperate to discover the truth before she decides to take another life outside the Death Design. Will she be able to accomplish the impossible, while being pursued herself by mysterious dark forces? One thing is certain: no can escape their destiny. All will be revealed in the Death Design.

Two chapters into the book and the supernatural elements are pleasantly flawless.  It helps that I am actually cackling aloud! I already love Sin's amusing antics and she has a more mature vibe that calms me.

Sin is definitely the "loner" of the sisters,  and takes longer to come into her element.  Liam is ever so sweet.

I never found out what part if the supernatural realm Brian belonged and I hate leaving mysteries unsolved.

There is a revelation in the end to tie in all 3 sisters that I absolutely loved. It's worth the read.

A nice finish to the "Daughter's of Darkness" series.

Beautiful Collision (Desperation, 1) by T.G. Ayer

Beautiful Collision (Desperation, #1)

Eighteen year old Gray McAllister is on the run. Leaving her dangerous past behind her is easier said than done, even when she finds herself at last able to forge a new life.

But then the planets align and Gray finds herself bumping into super-hot Thane Blackwell. Drooling over him from afar is safe but that's only until she is forced to look after Thane while he recovers from surgery.

Being holed up in her apartment is a bad, bad idea. Can Gray control the fire that Thane seems to light inside her, or will she give in to her deepest desires. Can Thane achieve his goal without hurting Gray in the process?

The stakes are impossibly high, but love and lies don't play nice with each other. Will Gray's past catch up with her first? Or will Thane's own secrets explode and tear them apart?

From start to finish I was entangled in the mysteries of Gray McAllister's life.
I love her beautiful heart and determination to survive and do what is right despite all of the wrongs brought upon her in the past.

So much of Thane still remains a mystery, but it's not possible to look forward to unraveling his life stories anymore than I already do. The passion kindled between he and Gray are breath taking and I eagerly await to read about the next step into their relationship. Of course, the circumstances surrounding what is only the start of a relationship for them could shred all possibilities of a future together. I doubt another betrayal, from the one person she allowed any closeness, of all people, could be disastrous.

Book 2 cannot be released soon enough!

Chaos (Havoc Series Book 2) by Xavier Neal

Chaos

Clint "Grim" Walker has always been clear about two things in his life: his love of his Marine career and his love for Haven Davenport.

His self-missions were clear: be the best Marine possible. Protect Haven at all costs.

But when the two objectives collide they leave his once stable existence in chaos.

I've been aching to read Chaos the second Havoc came to its close.

Chaos is most certainly a suitable title as those are the feelings it provokes throughout the entirety of the book. At times I tried to reason through my distorted emotions that I had not heard or understood Haven's side during any of the messes their relationship finds itself. It's easy to relate to both protagonists.  It's just so intense and I know it hits so close to home for the typical areas relationship's tend to wander.  I wanted to throw something and I was felt pleasantly subdued at Clint's numbness and decisions.

Another 5 stars (until I read the next book hahaha).

Review:

New Favorite Author Alert!

Blood Slaves has a stimulating prose  provoking an exhilarating air of entertainment laced within every page!
The book provides so many different layers of intrigue it felt like I'd read ten  amazing novels instead of just the one!

People have brought it to my attention that they trust my recommendations. With that being said, any book I read through in one sitting is a book that belongs in YOUR library! I loved it.

I adore the personality the author gave the book. It's heavily laced with sarcasm, humor, friendships I envy, love I crave, and lust as a perk!

Too many of the reviews I read gave way too much information away. I'll leave it at this: It's unique, has a head - strong and sassy heroine, swoon - worthy men, and has an amazing array of mythological creatures made to feel natural in this epic thriller.

I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could!
I'm off to read the sequel. Books worthy of insomnia are not to be put on the back-burner.

A Man's Promise: A Short Story Collection-Ashton's Promise by Frantiska Oliver

Review:

A Man's Promise: Short Story Collection (Ashtons' Promise) by Frantiska Oliver

I love the idea of how this collection came to be. The stories within this collection are each unique to the other with only one common factor: the phrase, "A Man's Promise."

*Ashton's Promise
The first short story is by one if my favorite author's if all time, Frantiska Oliver. She is the author to satiate my Paranormal lusts. Keep in mind,  she is a favorite for a reason. She is an artist who paints realms that leave me in a haze by the time I realize I've finished her story. She is a master of weaving emotional atmospheres.  At this point, I need to warn you that there are graphic abuse scenes throughout her story.  If you have PTSD triggers you may want to star clear.

I will be straightforward in saying Ashton's Promise is a five star short story. Half an hour has passed since I finished it and I am still reeling from the effects.

There's something about the stories Frantiska tells that leaves me aching. The end always leaves me feeling hollow because I don't want to leave the realms she has created. Her words contain a rare hypnotic quality.

A talent of such a vast magnitude should not got unnoticed.  My heart longs for the day Frantiska Oliver becomes a household name.

I wish I could say more. I'm simply in a state of awe.

*Each story has something amazing to offer. I wanted to focus on each of the author's in this anthology,  but lack the time. Each offered something amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Dead Wrath (Valkyrie #4)

Book Description:

Ragnarok is upon the worlds, and the time to fight is now. They come from all of the Nine Realms. Dark Elves, Dragons, Frost Giants, Elves ... They all come to fight for Odin.

And they answer to Valkyrie Brynhildr.

While Bryn grieves, struggling to cope with Sigrun's death, she knows too there is no time for tears. Odin is still a shade of himself and though there is no sign of Loki in all of the Nine Realms - Thor knows he is hiding in Midgard. As the Warriors gather, Bryn must head the offensive and enter the Human Realm in search of the Trickster and his henchman.

The war is silent and it rages all across the planet.

Ragnarok is here ...

In this, the 4th thrilling instalment in the Valkyrie series, Bryn takes the war to home turf. From New York to London, Interpol to CIA, Bryn and her team risk their lives to save their families, to the All-Father. And to prevent the end of the world.

Review:

The Valkyrie series only gets better!

Dead Wrath is a fantastically written, adventure - filled novel containing a mixture of multiple genres.

Name your poison. If adventures, thrillers, mysteries, romances, and paranormal are genres of your liking, you will find each of these in this one series alone.

In this installment, I could feel the Valkyrie series nearing the end if it's adventure.  A dystopian vibe is penetrated via the impending war of Ragnarok.  Bryn's leadership mentality left an admirable impression. It caused me to recount her journeys from her first book through this one. It may not be the last book, but I am already sad to say goodbye.

Despite Aiden's actions in a previous installment I found myself caring for him all over again. The author has much in store for him in Dead Wrath.

The new characters are welcoming and i love the new friends on this journey. Many questions are finally answered while new mysteries have me on edge as I wait for the Dead Silence release.

I'm still in love with the the clarity of this particular author's writing style. The descriptive elements are simple yet refined.

Another 5 stars for the very talented T.G. Ayer!

Hush (Senses Series #4)

Book Description:

Logan "Unbreakable" Kellar finally has everything he's always wanted in life. When a career opportunity, that could jeopardize everything, comes along, he's put back in the position where he's spent most of his life. Torn. Now, Logan has a hard hitting choice to make. Tell the only girl he's ever loved exactly what he's feeling or fall back on old habits and keep his feelings on the hush

Review:

I have no idea how the author can keep making the series better with each book, but she more than manages.

If you would like to know what I enjoyed about this book I would get sued for plagerism. Every comma, quotation mark, and period would be listed right HERE!!!

If you would like to know what I did not enjoy....well, I doubt you'd want to stare at a blank page.

The story kicks off with the mystery question that left me on edge at the end of Numb. I was swooning from the start. The first few chapters in Hush are my absolute favorite.  Of course, the graphic adult scenes do have something to do with it. I felt like I was experiencing first love all over again. That's probably one of the reasons this series is one of my favorite's. The storyline has something for most people to relate to and the characters are hilarious. They bring to you a sense of "coming home."

The end is another cliffhanger to make it impossible not to purchase Savor when it releases. It's a major one!

Light a Candle for the Beast by Echo Shea

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

If you’ve ever been caught in a riptide, pulled down into the water, then you know me. Or, more accurately, what I’m like when I’m angry.

Delia was beautiful, smart, and kind. He wasn’t. He said he loved her, but he didn’t know what love was. He was manipulative and cruel—more than a thief. A beast.

All she wanted was a rose…

These are the words on my sister’s grave. Her sadness, her obsession, forever a reminder I didn’t--couldn’t save her.

I’m not vindictive or cruel. I’m simply as the river--my memory is winding and my reach is long. I watched him steal her beauty, her essence. Watched him become a beast. He thought he'd get away with it, thought he'd go free.

I lay a rose upon my sister's grave.

Light a candle for the beast.

Review :

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review *

Light a Candle for the Beast is the first piece of work I've read by Echo Shea, and I am now eagerly looking forward to reading more by this author. This a dark, Fractured Fairy tale with intrigue in details on every page. There is nothing of the mundane confined to these pages. I absolutely loved it and experienced deeply - felt sorrow for the primary protagonist.  It may be a short story, but the experience offered so much more.

Their desire could be deadly. But as evil from the underworld unites against them, their only hope could be each other.

REVIEW

Braving Fate is a story of intrigue in regards to the historical, Celtic background. A romance with ties to mythology always lures me into the heart of a book. Linsey Hall shaped her plot around historical figures during a great war, creating a fiction using two primary characters from this war: Boudica and Paullinas.

It was initially the sparks between the secondary characters to grab my attention. Warren, who is somewhat of a mystery and Easha, a soulceress, are just as pleasing to read as the primary protagonists. I am actually eager to read the next book in Linsey Hall's series because it is their story. I truly enjoy the building anticipation created for these two.

The adult scenes that took place throughout the book were mind-numbing. The use of her description devised a smoldering climate of ecstasy. The romantic tension between Cadan and Diana was thoroughly satiated.
The creativity is the premise is appreciated just as much as the romance I live to love. I am personally an adventure junkie and yearned for something of a more expeditious journey. I am still happy to have been invited to enjoy this author's imagination.

Avenging Innocence by Samantha Ketteman

Book Description

December 11, 2013
In the aftermath of a devastating judgment, a mother tries to understand how justice could have failed her daughter so completely. Nightmares plague Jemma about the horrors her daughter experienced, slowly driving her to seek her own vengeance. There is nothing more beautiful or dangerous than a mother’s love for her child, and Jemma will stop at nothing to avenge her daughter’s lost innocence.

REVIEW:

It is said there is a fine line between love and hate. When that particular love runs soul deep, the hatred begat evil of lethal proportions.

Avenging Innocence is a modern day horror story unveiling the
conspiratorial desires created by the monsters of the hush-hush
realities of the nightmares they unleash in the lives of others.

"Wow" was the first to leave my shocked mouth as I reached the end of this short story. I've done horror my entire life, but never have I felt the surreal thrill of it! The details are insane and absolutely perfect! The author's play-by-play descriptions are appropriate in every single context. The  of the prose is bliss in the world of the picky reader. I am an aghast and satisfied emotional wreck.

This book is by far the most emotional ride of experienced. The pain and overwhelming sadness is transferred to amazement and shock before I even realize it happens. It's an unforeseen adrenaline rush.

After I read it, I took my own twisted pleasure in reminiscing and evaluating the awe I experienced the first time watching movies such as "Saw" and "Hannibal." There are similar situations in content matter in this book. Be warned!

I am in love with this author and I hope to read a full length, horror novel written by her sometime in the future. I haven't read horror in a very long time. I've not read anything before this, aside from the books written by the King of horror, to illicit any desire.

As Mad as a Hatter by Catherine Stovall

4 Stars

 Book Description

Publication Date: October 25, 2014

Madness is a state of frenzied or chaotic activity, and that is what you will find inside the pages of ‘As Mad as a Hatter’. Walk the path of Lady Death, feel the power of freedom, fall in love, and fear the dark corners of the room with these twelve short stories and six poems from Catherine Stovall. What will you find under the top hat?

REVIEW:

As Mad as a Hatter is an abundance of entertainment. It is compilation of eighteen, dark poems and short stories by Catherine Stovall.

My vigor was laced with nostalgia as I clung to each word. I was reminded of autumn days writing my own stories, and now understand my mother's worries. I was reminded of Stephen King's ability to ensnare my attention with his beautifully,  insane ideas. These twisted stories are balm for my creative angst.

I'm more amazed than ever at Catherine's ability to provoke mental imagery through the crisp articulation of her descriptions. Her material always contains a picturesque quality. The prose is always clear without lacking intellectual narrative. I am now adding all of her books to my TBR on Goodreads. I say this not only because her talent deems her worthy of Best-Seller for years to come. I sincerely enjoyed these stories and will again.

A large percentage of insanity's presence is the cold, harshness of reality. "Drift Back Home" is filled with a variety of of experiences known to adults and couples with children who are cracking under the pressure. It's a sad tale of hopeful coincidence.

Im not sure my husband would handle it well to know I think of the "Independence Day" story to be pure genius, no matter how sinister. The song included is one I've held close to my heart for as long as I can remember.  Relatable qualities of a story is thrilling of a familiar tone, a reminder that we are not alone.

I loved every poem, and in every story a catalyst to assault my emotional state.

Maybe the fall is worth the pain…

THIS IS A SERIAL NOVELLA SERIES!
THIS IS PART TWO OF FOUR.
BOOKS ARE RELEASED EVERY THREE WEEKS.

Review:

Play with fire...

The  thrill - ride hits a straight stretch to a slower, more cumbersome pace. The "living life by the drop" lifestyle that kept the sisters running on full-throttle loses its fervor as their romantic interests ignite entirely different adventures.

The romance in Fall of Sky part 2 is more delicious and steamy than anything ever written by this author. I wouldn't doubt reading through every line in record time just to satiate the desires this piece ignited.

A tit for a tat and both sisters meet their match. Only, one sister, guess which one, is committing the deadliest of betrayals...

And part 3, to be released,  is going to be witness to the "crash and burn" of everyone close at hand. I can't help but dream up the positive outcome that in no way appears feasible. I'm on the edge, ready to tip at any second,  anticipating the next set of insane obstacles.

Both books are currently available for 99 cents!

Jared's Quest: An Unfortunate Fairy Tale Short Story

*** This short story is part of the "Once in a Lifetime Fractured Fairy Tale Set" ***

EVER WONDER WHAT JARED DOES WHEN HE’S NOT SAVING MINA GRIME’S SKIN FROM FAIRY TALE BADDIES?

Mina Grime is a Grimm, bent on sending Jared, and his Fae kind back to their own world to end the curse on her family. Jared is her Fae protector, and an all around pain in the neck. Then the wheels of fate turn on Jared, and he is given his own quest to complete, against his will.

Jared has his hands full as he tries to save a bunch of spellbound boys, capture a beautiful shape-changing Fae, and keep Mina in the dark about it. He’ll need all the help he can get, and will have to recruit one of his old Fae friends to help.

 REVIEW:

Jared's Quest is a sweet, short story that takes place between the first and second installments of the Unfortunate Fairy Tale series.

Jared's actions as he takes on his journey are a direct reflection of his emotional ties to Mina. It also provides insight into his personal relationship and friendship with the quick-quipped pixie, Ever, and her unseen character traits.

Admittedly, this story raises more question's than the answers it provides. It also brings to the surface as to just how much Jared truly understands his own existence.

Overall, it is a pleasant little read. 5 stars.

Reign: An Unfortunate Fairy Tale #4

Author: Chanda Hahn
Rated: 5 Stars

Book Description

November 3, 2014
Going to the Fae plane against Jared’s orders has cost Mina dearly. Her decision haunts her as a new danger surfaces back on the human plane. The Grimms are fading from existence.
To save her family’s future, Mina Grime will have to travel to the past with the help of her Fae Godmother and a pair of magic shoes.
She must go to the Story’s very beginning, to the days before the dark prince’s reign. But can she finish her quest before her time runs out, or will she be trapped in the past forever?

 REVIEW:

I do not know of many authors with the ability to hold a flame to Chanda Hahn's creative talents. Reign is all the justification needed to discern the truth behind the claim. The ironies throughout this story are of epic proportions. The revelations and inventive twists are entirely awe-inspiring.

From start to finish every excerpt has purpose, creating an impeccable storyline beyond impressive praises. New elements of fairy tales and mythology keep the series fresh. The romantic underlining assault the senses and create quite the confusion as confessions old and new come to light. Putting this book down before a straight read-through would be a sin!

Evolved characters satiate the necessary growth of the adolescents throughout the continuation of the series, and reflect the changing circumstances with impeccable thoroughness. The progress of the transitions in the character development, while also including new characters, invite intriguing new perspective's.

Other than a few spelling errors I find no flaws in these pages. I was ready for book five at the completion of book four! The ending is nothing short of torture! I'm a mess, suffering from post-traumatic book addiction. A hang-over would be welcoming.

Amethyst Chronicles: Winter's Kiss by KG Stutts

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Amethyst is a secret team of genetically enhanced humans which is Earth’s greatest defensive weapon. Leading the team of super soldiers is Ember Wilson, a tough woman with a huge chip on her shoulder. The team gets their name from the after effect of the Genesis Project which turned their eyes and even their blood purple.

For decades, Earth has been ravaged by unpredictable weather which began to cause crops to fail. Most of the planet’s food sources have deteriorated. Dr. Clayton Rudo has proclaimed he has the means to save the soil. He has created a weather machine to regulate and help replenish. But Ember knew the truth. He didn’t want to save the planet. He wanted to control it. Amethyst destroyed the machine, but was placed in stasis. Two years later, Rudo recreated the device and has frozen Washington, DC and the west coast of the United States.

General Tom Blanchard brought Amethyst out of stasis to work with an elite Air Force team, led by Major Liam Ross. Tensions between Ember and Liam rise as they butt heads. Can they work together before Earth is completely under ice?

Review:

Amethyst Chronicles is an excellent dystopian novel for the young adult audience. There are scenes of adult content, but they aren't explicit. I think it more or less depends on the parent. As a parent I would read ahead to make sure it is suitable to you for your teenager.

I did enjoy the story in general. The female protagonist is perhaps the most hardcore woman I've read about it quite a while. Her past and circumstances are what pull at my heart strings.

Personally, add a bit more length to it, more mystery, and time on the emotional atmospheres of the character's, and I would like it even more.

If your teenager enjoys genre of the sci-fi, dystopian, categories I recommend it. ♡

REVIEW:

☆I received this book in exchange for an honest review☆

I See You introduces an intriguing, paranormal twist on realistic monsters our society faces. Curiosity slithered into the crevasses of my mind, as I tried to discerne early - on if I could handle reading anything containing content of pedophiles.

It contains so much more than emotional scars and explicit scenerios. The execution of the prose remolds a hushed topic into a story of heroism and fascination. I am hanging on to to the mysteries and melting at the comfort only a child's innocence can provide. I praise the author's talented ability in choosing words that bring stories to life.

♡Twenty-seven percent into the book and I am hopelessly hooked on one mystery after another. It's not often a book can become so intense this quickly!

♡Thirty-seven percent into the book and it is a new favorite. Romance has made an entrance. More paranormal delight, and I am utterly intoxicated. I never do a play-by-play of a book, but I sensed this book would be deserving after the first few chapters.

♡Fifty-nine percent into the book and I am riddled with desire, with rage and pain, and with admiration at the author's ability to provoke these emotions.  Monsters are real and they do not reside in ghost stories or fairy tales. At this point,  my emotions resemble those of an adrenaline junkie. I know without a doubt, I will feel amped up long after the story is finished.
Talent such as this fascinates me to no end. I've found the story my soul craves.

The precision of the words chosen in each scenario are meticulous to the point of absolute perfection. I'm not sure I've ready many books containing a thoroughness of prestine objectivity. The execution of the prose is notably proficient. "I See You" is a well-versed narration entwining facts with a fictional story-line of phenomenal altitudes.  The words capturing the emotional elements of an abused person's lifestyle could not be captured more rigorously than the words confined to this particular narrative.

Keep in mind, this is not an account of abuse. It is of the thriller/paranormal romance genre that weaves an epic storyline. There is romance, reluctance, mystery, shapeshifters, witches, and horror.

I fear ever writing a book, for the chance that it would be nowhere near as worthy as one such as this. I am impatiently waiting for the debut of the second installment. A huge thank you to the author is in order for a vigorous, new journey. This book is a reminder as to why I NEED read and write.

***Excuse me while I read it again. ♡

Havoc by Xavier Neal

Publication Date: October 10, 2014

When Clint "Grim" Walker, started Operation: Save Haven Davenport, the beaten, bruised girl who fell into his life, he had no idea it would turn him into an unbalanced, enraged, insecure idiot.
The mission objectives seemed simple. Make her feel safe in his home. Fail. Protect her from the neighborhood playboy. Fail. Shelter her from the ex girlfriend. Fail. Not fall in love with her. Epic fail. And while Clint could learn to live with those failures, there's one he can't. And that's the objective that matters most. More than his side duties of making amends with his father, more than accepting motherly love from his meddling neighbor, and more than attempting to relate to his brother's in arms off the field. That objective is life or death.

REVIEW:

***I received this book in exchange for an honest review**

First, may I share a little experience with you?

I was eagerly nearing the end of Havoc when a glance at the clock revealed it was time to get my son off the school bus. I did so impatiently, then returned to my reading. Forty - five minutes later, my brother-in-law enters the house to ask if  I knew I had left  my car running. *FACE-PALM* Needless to say, aside from Havoc being perfect, I won't forget my first time reading it. On with the review...

Havoc is a book every romance lover MUST ADD to their library. I will have this in paperback and I do not order books if they aren't of prestine quality in every aspect.

Clint, a no-nonsense marine, focuses on his duties, and he is the best all he pursues. His determination is his escape from a shattered past. Everything changes when Haven, a violently abused runaway ends up on his lawn. His stone-cold heart melts at a rapid pace, wreaking havoc on his existence.

Author Xavier Neal always includes a close-knit family vibe, creating an overwhelming and comforting atmosphere.  It is a longing fulfilled through her written word; an opportunity to experience it. These words embed themselves into the very core of my heart. Neal's ability to create strong, emotional atmospheres ensures a reader will read any book she gets published.

Clint's honorable intentions, overwhelming emotions, and vulnerability is soul consuming. Haven is a strong-willed girl, young woman who has just begun to learn about the world around her. Her free-spirited character and compassionate resolve is all that is needed to fall in love.

So much passion is infused in Havoc that I am left helplessly intoxicated and hopelessly devoted to this new series.
The ending swayed intense, devastating emotions. I am so intrigued that the wait for the second installment is excruciating.

Xavier Neal is a debut author whose name you won't soon forget. That's guaranteed.

Last Chance: A Dark World Novel (Skinwalkers: Book 3) by T.G. Ayer

Genre: Urban Fantasy
Adult Content: 16+
Rated: 5 Stars

With the loss of her sister still weighing down both her conscience and her heart, Kailin Odel must take on the next part of her mission - find her mother and Anjelo and bring them back from Wrythiin.

Kailin uses her mother's portal key and enters the Wraith world intent on saving the ones she loves, but from the moment she arrives her mission is fraught with peril.
Arriving in Wrythiin, Kai steps right into the middle of a Wraith rebellion. And only to find that though Anjelo is safe, her mother is held captive by a subversive faction of Wraiths once led by the Wraithlord that Kai had killed.

From Wraiths to Shapeshifters, rebel causes to fraying family ties, to inexplicable new powers, Kai must fight her darkest demons while entering the blackest pits of Wrythiin to save her mother.

Ayer's eloquent writing style once again ensares the readers minds, entrapping them with simple, yet vivid imagery, emotional atmospheres, and unique scenarios. Her presentation of diversity, ranging from characters to religious belief systems is flawless. As much as I have already praised her talents for creating unique storylines and a well-structured prose, her abilities vastly improve with each novel. I also wish to mention how her characters mannerisms remain the same throughout each novel. That's a conflict I enjoy not having to endure with this particular author.

The opening scene rouses snippets of empathy, tranquility, and loss. Tragic circumstances awakens friction among the characters in Last Chance. The obscurity behind the onslaught of changes everyone in Kai's world must face, compels a vigorous desire for justice and information.  The nagging suspicions are intense to the point of driving one stark - raving mad! (Pointedly: myself)

No matter how serious the plot, it is not without humor, nor is it overwhelming to read. It's as smooth and pleasant as it is intriguing. I feel nothing but admiration for Kai's Alpha strength and level-headed wit. She remains thorough in her tactics and consideration. Though that remains the same, this installment is filled with more well-suited transitions than one could have foreseen. It's fresh and exciting.

Be prepared for new enemies, allies, and ending that shocked me to my core. At the moment, I am still dealing with the effects of this stories revelations. The apprehension I'm experiencing over the details in the next few books has me on edge.

The DarkWorld: SkinWalkers series has everything. Shifters, mafes, demons, and fae. It's a thrilling adventure with just enough romance to satiate the desire. Though, I do need to mention that in this installment, Logan and Kai's Romance reaches an invigorating, boiling point. I desperately need more.

I'm thankful for a new series to read time and again with no loss of satisfaction.  5 stars aren't nearly enough to present the prestine quality of The DarkWorld series.

Numb: Senses series book #3 by Xavier Neal

Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Adult Content: 18+
Rated: 5 Stars

Just when Logan Kellar was finally ready to make some changes in his life, his entire world was flipped upside down. Now the pain he is used to burying is fighting back. Refusing to let him slip into his old ways, refusing to let him hide from his mistakes, and refusing to let him become numb.

♡I received this book in exchange for an honest review♡

This your warning: I couldn't care less about sounding professional. I finished reading Numb ten minutes ago and I am still flying high. These books are being released a month apart and even that length of time in between is agonizing. I think I'll write my own novel, "The Wait", a horror story.

Let us pick up where we left off from Deaf, the second installment in the Senses series. Always the one to over-analyze, the predicament Maxx faces in the beginning was anticipated. My curiosity as to how she would handle the situation was beyond satiated.  I was rolling with the intensity of the emotions. The situation may have been unpleasant, but the dialogue was extraordinarily, entertaining.  Every...single. .line..in this book is ENTERTAINING!

Speaking retrospectively on Xavier's prose/dialogue, I've not only adjusted quickly, but I crave it.

I assumed Numb would be just as phenomenal as the first books in the Senses series. I am blown away that Xavier Neal found it possible to write something even better! If the series were combined into one novel, I would label numb the climatic part of the story.

Logan's attempts at changing are mind-boggling! He does nothing half-way! He goes above and beyond his own security barrier to protect not only Maxx, but someone in dire need. I'm awe-stricken, love - stricken, and now determined to get these paperbacks on my bookshelf! You can't put a price on a series like this.

I'm rendered a helpless Logan/Maxx addict. Until the next release, I will be reading the Blind, Deaf, and Numb relentlessly to stay sane.

REVIEW:

I am currently in awe. An author making a genre transition is always risky business.  An author pulling it off with a stellar story is to rave about! I jumped into Fall of Sky blindly. I knew nothing of the premise and assumed it was another paranormal romance. Hats off to Alexia Purdy for the creation of this astounding book.

If you've read anything written by Alexia, you already know what to expect of the prose. It's sweet, simple, and to the point. I love getting sucked into a story without realizing it happens. I've read two series she published in the past and with neither I was immediately captivated. However, at some point, in both series, I would hang onto to every word, paragragh, and punctuation mark while forgetting to breathe. The same exact response was extracted from me with Fall of Sky.

The execution of the plot begins with the creation of an emotional atmosphere surrounding the bond of two sisters, who would be broken if one would have to live to live without the other. The adoration and tolerance Liv and Audrey show for one another has a homesick vibe. Reader's will relate to or long for that connection.

The female protagonists are survivors. They are independent, self-reliant broads I can respect. If Liv weren't so insanely wreckless we wouldn't have such a hot story on our hands.

And what of Saul? He's charming, remarkably calm, almost too serene in fact. I can't help but wonder if he's being deceptive and a part of a grander scheme that threatens the sisters lives. At least those were my initial feels of him. Now, I'm not sure, but I do love him either way.

I keep wondering if this is going to be a "but I fell in love" theme. It would certainly make an interesting conflict to cause vast emotional connections. The other two males in the story keep me trying to piece together the puzzle as much as Saul. I have an idea of how it might turn out, but I love knowing I'm going to be in a for a good surprise. With Alexia Purdy as the author it is gauranteed.

I'm now trying to rush through my ARC's because apparently Fall of Sky part 2 releases in a little over a week!

This is a must - read series I swear by!

Deaf: Book 2 Senses Series by Xavier Neal

Author: Xavier Neal
Genre: Adult Romance
Adult Content: 18+
Rated: 5 drooling stars

October 1, 2014 While the pleas of Logan Kellar's best friends typically fall on deaf ears, there's one voice he can't ignore so easily. His own. And when Maxx, his beautiful best friend, says something that shakes his existence, he finds himself suddenly desperate to be heard.

CAUTION: Contains Adult Content, Language, and Themes! 18+ ONLY
Senses Series #2

After reading Blind, the first book in the Senses series, I merely believed I suffered a bad book hang-over.  The second installment has me convinced these books are soul-sucker fantasies. Deaf absolutely dominated me: mind, body, and soul. In reference to Logan, I wish I could say, "PUN INTENDED"! HaHa!

By now I am familiar with the execution of the prose/dialogue. At times I felt personal tension. For the most part, I hung onto every word.

Be prepared for Maxx and Logan's relationship to enter the make or break stage. The intensity of the emotional and sexual atmosphere is kicked up a notch...or ten! Xavier kept me guessing throughout the book, and totally blind-sided my expectations. The build-up is a reflection of the author's ability as a wonderful storyteller.

Xavie Neal is brilliant! The novel's end is so raw, it is impossible to not purchase the next book in the series. I was left shattered, hopeful, and obsessed. November cannot come soon enough!
